Grilled Asparagus Bundles

1 pound fresh asparagus spears, tough ends trimmed off
3 g
reen onions
1 tablespoon olive oil
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground pepper

Cook or steam asparagus until almost tender. Remove the root ends from the onions and slice lengthwise into three strips each. Wrap several spears of asparagus with a strip of green onion and tie into a bundle. Drizzle bundles with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Grill until onion is tender. (You can also roast the bundles for 5 minutes in a 400 degree oven.)
