What’s It All About?????
The Early Bird Spring C.S.A. has a lot to offer. It is when we begin to break the ground for spring plantings.
So, what is available in March and April?
Locally, from cold storage we will be able to offer root crops such as potatoes, onions, beets, turnips, apples and pears etc. Assorted lettuces will be greenhouse grown. Occasionally mushrooms will be included from Pa. Assorted citrus including Naval oranges, Blood oranges, Sweet juice oranges and Red Grapefruit will be shipped from Florida.
What can you expect in May?
This is what spring is all about. Assorted tender lettuces, spinach, strawberries, asparagus, new baby potatoes, carrots, beans, peas, spring onions, assorted herbs etc.
Breads will be baked by “Great Harvest,” made with freshly milled premium flour and our own farm fresh eggs, honey or herbs may be added. Fruit bread and rolls will be baked for us by "The Breadery". Basically the program will be the same as our Summer/Fall program except some items will be coming from a wider range.
Our program is "Value Added", so in addition to 8 assorted fruits and vegetable weekly, you will receive your choice of bread, a dozen eggs and "Pick Your Own Herbs" You may pick from a large variety. The last week of each month, instead of eggs, you may choose another farm fresh item such as jam, noodles, honey, soap, cheese etc. on rotating basic.
As always you may still purchase additional farm fresh items when you pick up such as honey, jam, meats, cheese, soap, freshly milled flour, Michelle's Granola, organic noodles, beans, raw sugar, spices and more.
Wondering what the Summer/Fall season has to offer beginning in June? Go to the home page and click on Summer/Fall C.S.A. This is the heart of our program with lots more farm fresh goodies.
